Every year, this day is famous in Melbourne for his big festival organised in Saint Kilda city and all the Aussies are out!
For this occasion, we had a pretty moment with Fanny and Maureen. Phil was happy to meet over there Neil, his American childhood friend…
The entire main street, which runs along the beach, was blocked to the trams and cars. You could only walk and enjoy the animations. Indeed, there were a lot of food stands and expositions. Several kinds of shows were presented, like thrill activities. It was especially amazing to see the guys jumping in the sky with a motorcycle! Also, we could watch the wake boarders practice in three large artificial pools next to the beach and perform awesome tricks!
Even more, a huge stage was set up near the beach for some concerts. The groups were rather young, some of them were only 16 years old! These teenagers were keen about eighty’s music!
Neil explained to us that now, Australian fashion is back to the eighty’s style! I understand better the Australian trend: boots (while the temperature is around 30°!), crazy colours (green and pink fluorescent!), huge glasses (they look like flies!), hairs style, and last but not least lets not forget the men in their slim trousers! This is also a new trend in France… so particular!
Besides that, how did we spend this day? We simply had a nice time by walking from stand to stand while eating some donuts! For our lunchtime, we chomped on some healthy burgers and listened to some cool Aussie rock’n’roll. Notably a sweet rock and roll group, that reminded us of the most notorious U2. Even the singer would look like Bono (if I am not mistaken, the lead singer of U2)!
